Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island called West Island. The West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a large area that extends from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often referenced, however her brief visit to the West Island was not. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. Her initial ambition was to be an actor, However, following a dramatic expansion, she and her partner were no longer able to dance with her. In an article from The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. The moment I outgrew my male counterpart and stopped dancing, I quit. A lot of dancers go from dancing into acting. As for the Brugel family, it was their drama instructor who pushed her into this path. Her teacher encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. The teacher who suggested that she go after a role in the school's annual show. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both large and small. The most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast for Season 1 of the series and not seen much.
